§ log.007 — anthropic's ai courses
I'm working through Anthropic's free AI engineering courses. Two down, a few to go. Most of the content I already knew, but the structure is clean.
Anthropic put together a free course series on AI engineering. I decided to run through them to see if there was anything I was missing.
Two courses down so far. They're well-made — clean explanations, good examples, practical exercises that actually make you think rather than just click through. The production value is higher than most of the free ML content floating around.
The honest truth is I knew about 99% of the content already. Prompt engineering patterns, tool use, structured outputs, context management — all things I've internalized from building with this stuff since ChatGPT first dropped.
But that 1% is worth it. A couple of mental models clicked that I hadn't articulated to myself before. And honestly, it was nice confirmation that the way I already work is close to what Anthropic considers best practice.
If you're new to AI engineering, these courses are probably the best free resource out there right now. If you've been building with LLMs for a while, you'll breeze through them — but you might still pick up a thing or two.
